Our People: Health & Safety

Posted by Michael Mortimer on 14th Jul 2015

We are very proud to congratulate our Health & Safety team on individually gaining their NEBOSH diplomas in Occupational Health & Safety.

Health & Safety is vital at Walkers Shortbread and as we currently have over 1,600 employees, the health and safety of our workforce is of the utmost importance to us.

The Walkers Health & Safety team lead by manager Gary Browne have been studying for the last 5 years and have now all passed their NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.

"I often say that although we are the smallest department in the company with only three of us, we are actually the biggest because everyone is involved in health and safety here now." - Gary Browne, Health & Safety Manager

Health & Safety Manager Gary passed and graduated in 2013 and was an encouraging mentor to Aleksandra Holub and Agnieszka Hennig who both graduated with a NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety this year.

NEBOSH (National Examination Board for Occupational Safety and Health), a fellow Queen’s Award winner, is an organisation that is recognised for its Health & Safety environmental qualifications worldwide. NEBOSH diplomas are globally recognised and are aimed at professional health and safety advisors and environmental practitioners.

"NEBOSH has been great for Gary, Aleksandra and Agnieszka, and therefore for us. Although hugely important, it's not all just about compliance. The key driver for us has been to properly look after the whole family at Walkers. That's what we are about and training and qualifications are now a huge part of that here at Walkers.

- Nicky Walker, Production Director.

Congratulations to both Aleksandra and Agnieszka on this impressive achievement!
